GP Online Triage: Patient Feedback

Many GP surgeries across Warwickshire are moving towards digital services, but not everyone can keep up. While many patients appreciate the convenience of booking appointments online, others feel left behind by the technology. Read our report on what Warwickshire residents are saying about online triage systems.

Many GP surgeries in Warwickshire now use online systems. This means patients can use a computer or phone to:

  • Book appointments
  • Ask for help
  • Get medical advice

During our general engagement over the last 9 months, Warwickshire residents chose to share their experience with us about GP online systems.

We heard about the benefits, leading to appointments and efficient treatment.

We also heard from people who felt that the online systems created a barrier for them to receive the healthcare they needed.

Some people had understood the change to mean that the online booking system had replaced the ability to phone up to make an appointment, causing anxiety or feelings of frustration and leading some people to reject contact with primary healthcare.

We invite further consideration from healthcare providers to ensure that any move towards digital services enhances rather than restricts healthcare access for Warwickshire residents.
