About this event

We’re finally getting back together again to support people living with diabetes. We'd love you to join us.

Managing and living with diabetes can be a challenge, which is why we have created our Diabetes Wellness Days to support people living with all forms of diabetes.

The team here at DRWF is excited to be returning to face-to-face events in 2022 and this our 4th annual Diabetes Wellness Day Midlands. Over the last decade our Diabetes Wellness Programme has gone from strength to strength in providing information, advice, support and the practical skills needed to manage and improve life for people living with diabetes.

Why should I attend a Diabetes Wellness Day?

The Diabetes Wellness Days bring together a wealth of information under one roof for people living with diabetes, their family members, carers, friends and those with an interest in the condition. The chance to learn, explore and gather the tools, understanding and practical skills needed to improve life with diabetes and the keys to healthier living are provided, ensuring all participants have the opportunity to raise their questions, share their experiences and enjoy the support of a friendly, like-minded diabetes community in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. At our days you can learn how to take better control of your diabetes and go home armed with the know-how to change your life and health for the better.

What can I expect at a Diabetes Wellness Day?

Each Diabetes Wellness Day consists of a central exhibition area, which forms the ‘hub’ of the event. Here you will have the opportunity to spend as much time as you like visiting the stands and chatting with a variety of healthcare professionals, community groups, holistic practitioners and diabetes industry experts who will be on hand to offer advice on diet, health, lifestyle and the latest blood-glucose meters and diabetes-related products and services.

As well as the exhibition hub, a full programme of interactive talks and workshops will take place throughout the day. Delivered and supported by your local specialist diabetes teams and screeners, the talks will cover many aspects of diabetes, including facts about diabetes, foot care, eye care, diet, exercise, physical activity, hypos and hypers, medications, blood-glucose testing and much more.

What makes the Diabetes Wellness Days special?

It is the collaboration between DRWF, the specialist diabetes teams and regional healthcare services, complimenting and reinforcing key health messages to support improved blood glucose control and the enhanced feelings of well-being people experience after attending the events.

Quality in Care (QiC) Diabetes Award

The DRWF team were delighted to be awarded the Judges' Special Award and Highly Commended in the Empowering People with Diabetes category at the 2017 Quality in Care (QiC) awards evening. This award recognises the innovative practice demonstrating quality in diabetes management, education and services for people with diabetes and/or their families, throughout the UK. The judges said: “The events are clearly user-focused, providing an opportunity for peer support and re-engaging those users who have missed out on a structured education.” In  November 2018 DRWF were also awarded Charity of the Year at the Diabetes Professional Care Industry Awards.
